Customer Spotlight: Quora Delivers Your Answers Straight To Your Phone
Published on 13 May 2013
Question-and-answer website Quora combines the relevance and personalization of social media with the functionality of popular search engines. Rather than browsing through large keyword-based search results for an answer, ask any question to get real answers from a community of users with firsthand experience.
Thanks to dedicated members who continually contribute information, Quora is becoming the go-to destination for finding answers to both the most common and peculiar questions. Want to learn more about what it’s like to be the CEO of a startup? Quora offers more than 50 answers from CEOs. Want to read great stories of people randomly meeting Steve Jobs? Quora will keep you entertained.
With its iOS app, Quora continues to prove why it is becoming one of the easiest ways to find and share inside knowledge. The app includes most of the functionality of the website, such as a top stories feed, notifications feed, and the ability to manage your profile.
Additionally, Quora created mobile-specific features to enhance the user experience. Notably, the app includes a Nearby feature allowing users to find local questions and topics, if they opt-in to share their location information. For instance, here at Urban Airship’s office in Portland, we can easily browse topics about the Portland Incubator Experience and Stumptown Coffee Roasters.
Quora mobile app users can also write detailed answers and post it straight from their iPhones using rich-text editing. This includes the ability to organize posts with numbered lists; bold, italicize, and underline words; link text to existing Quora users, topics, and questions; and insert images anywhere they want.
Users can receive push notifications and stay up-to-date on all the questions and topics they follow. Rather than constantly checking Quora, the app will send you a push notification as soon as an answer is posted or a topic you follow is updated.
